Has anyone ever thrown you a surprise party? Have you ever thrown one for someone else? Now's your chance, Guerrillas.
On Saturday, October 7th at 10pm, we'll be arriving at the Rosebud at 719 E Pike St and setting up a surprise birthday party.
"For who?", you ask?
We won't know that til they walk in the door at 11:30pm.
You see, a surprise birthday party is even more surprising when a) it's not your birthday and b) you don't know anyone throwing the party. Some unsuspecting and VERY lucky individual will walk into the bar around 11:30pm, and find dozens of strangers there waiting with cake, balloons, gifts, streamers and party hats all screaming "HAPPY BIRTHDAY". We'll give them presents. We'll give them cake. We'll buy them drinks. We'll make it the best birthday they've ever had... except it won't be their birthday.
Sound like fun?
At precisely 11:30pm, we'll gather facing the doorway. The first
person to walk through the door is our guest of honor. (Synchronize
your watches at
the World Clock web site). In the
unlikely situation that two people walk in simultaneously, the taller
of the two will be the guest of honor.
The guest of honor should be greeted warmly by one and all, handed or
shown gifts and cards, and offered a birthday shot or drink by anyone
so inclined. Throughout the night they should get cake or cupcakes or
anything else we might have, and be treated like a king or queen.
They need to feel like we really think it's their birthday and we're
they're bestest friends EVER. Hopefully, they'll go along for the
ride. Free drinks? Gifts? Cake? Who wouldn't?
To avoid a Guerrilla being mistaken for our guest of honor, we need to
be sure that none of us arrives close to 11:30pm. So just like any
suprise party, PLEASE arrive prior to 11:15pm, or wait until about
11:45pm til the coast is clear.
If our first guest of honor should refuse to play along, we'll pick a
new one based on the same system - starting when the March Hare (dirty
bunny) yells: NEW GUEST!!!!
So gather your favorite birthday party attire, make some party hats for yourself and some friends, and pick out a lovely gift or card for our not-really-my-birthday party guest of honor. Feeling generous? Give them something nice! Feeling silly? Give them something goofy! Anything goes.
Maybe someone will bring balloons? Maybe you'll bake a cake or cupcakes? Or perhaps you'll take on the challenge of putting up some streamers. Have you been looking for an excuse to buy those adorable napkins and plates? Do you have a knack for putting together gift bags? It's your time to shine!
And a party is extra fun with a little entertainment, of course. Birthday clowns are always popular... though strippers are crowd pleasers, too. A clown stripper? A birthday suit seems particularly appropriate. Maybe you'll pop out of a cake?
Whatever you wear, whatever you bring, come on out to celebrate the non-birthday of a complete stranger with the rest of the Guerrilla crowd.
